Härkingen/Switzerland, 27.07.2023 – The RONAL GROUP is well known not only as a leader in innovation and technology, but also for its strong commitment to motorsport over many years. Now the Swiss wheel manufacturer has entered into a partnership with the Italian OEM Lamborghini, developing the wheel for the LMDh (Le Mans Daytona hybrid) race car SC63 that will participate in the WEC FIA World Endurance Championship and IMSA (International Motor Sport Association) series from 2024 on.
RONAL GROUP’s technology competence and product reliability in terms of top performance have provided the basis for to date 89 FIA World Champion titles in Formula 1, the World Rally Championship, World Rallycross Championship, Super Touring and GT Racing. Lamborghini Squadra Corse has created with the SC63 an LMDh vehicle with 680 HP that features a hybrid power unit consisting of a V8 twin-turbo combustion engine and a single-source Energy Recovery System kit. The LMDh project is the perfect race car extension of the Lamborghini strategy which is bringing the company into a sustainable future of hybridization. The prototype is set to make its competitive debut in 2024.
The RONAL GROUP has become the technical partner of Lamborghini Squadra Corse and is engaged in the development and production of monoblock wheels for the Lamborghini SC63. For the design of such a wheel, the most important aspects are structure, function, weight, aerodynamics, bending/stiffness and of course safety. “We have chosen the RONAL GROUP as our partner because they have state-of-the-art machines, the know-how to use different specific technologies and, because we have been working closely together for many years, a very good understanding of us as a customer”, explains Giorgio Sanna, Lamborghini Head of Motorsport. The RONAL GROUP accepted the challenge to come up with a product that must be precisely geared to the special stresses inherent in motorsport applications and must satisfy other requirements such as a customer specific design.
The new Lamborghini SC63 was presented to the public on July 13 at Goodwood, England.
